Dr. Nezafat received his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He was a research fellow at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Insitute (NHLBI) before joining Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Nezafat is currently an Established Investigator of the American Heart Associaton and serves as Deputy Editor of Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (JMRI), Associate Editor of Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (JCMR), and a charter member of the Medical Imaging Study Section of the National Insitutes of Health.
Dr. Nezafat has received numerous awards for research, mentorship, and teaching including the International Society of Magnetic Resonance in Medicine (ISMRM) W.S. Moore Young Investigator Award, the ISMRM Outstanding Teaching Award, and the AHA Established Investigator Award.
Dr. Nezafat’s research includes development of novel quantitative imaging methodologies to enable translational cardiovascular imaging research and help clinical decision-making by providing more accurate diagnostic and prognostic information. His laboratory has been continuously supported by the National Institutes of Health, the American Heart Association (AHA), and industry.
