My name is Elorm Avakame and I am the Vice President for Internal Affairs.

I hail from scenic Bensalem, Pennsylvania, home of the Fighting Owls! (Otherwise known as a suburb directly adjacent to the great city of Philadelphia) My family comes from Ghana, in West Africa, but I was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. I came to HMS from Rutgers University with a background in Public Health.

Professionally, I am broadly passionate about primary care and urban inequality. I am particularly interested in the propagation of violence among urban youth. On a more informal note, I am passionate about sports, random bursts of singing, and grilling. Be warned: I am an irrationally passionate fan of all Philadelphia sports teams. I spent much of my life as a competitive athlete and aspiring comedian. Since coming to HMS, I have continued the former via my proud membership on the "Wu Man Group" intramural basketball team. Unfortunately, I have reluctantly retired my comedic aspirations.
