Hey everyone, my name is Kristan. As one of the pipeline coordinators, I work to develop events like mixers and workshops for our chapters of the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students to help inform them about medical school life, admissions, applications, etc. and develop connections between pre-med and medical school students. I am also a part of the planning committee for the Health Professions Recruitment & Exposure Program, one of the pipeline programs of SNMA. I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. I went to Princeton University (’12) for undergrad and majored in Molecular Biology. I performed basic science research, investing the development of chemotherapy resistance in hereditary colon cancer as a result of mutations in mismatch repair proteins. I have not figured out what type of medicine I would like to practice as of yet, so now I am exploring my interests in infectious disease and community health and hope to perform some research on the management of chronic disease. In my spare time I watch A LOT of television. I also have a background in classical voice, gospel and theater, so I try to sing and perform as often as possible.
