Shanna Tucker - Secretary

Hi! My name is Shanna, and I am the Secretary for SNMA at HMS. I grew up in Los Angeles, CA and went to UC Berkeley for undergrad. While at UC Berkeley I studied Molecular and Cell Biology with an emphasis in Neurobiology. I graduated in 2010, so I took 3 years off before coming to Harvard for medical school. In my time off I finished a research project in neuroendocrinology at UC Berkeley and then did a clinical immersion internship at a county hospital in East Oakland during the summer of 2011. After that I moved to New York City to live with my now-husband, where I studied for the MCAT full-time, with serving as a Health Coach for diabetes patients. After taking the MCAT I worked as a lab technician for a little over a year at Columbia University Medical Center doing neuroscience research. I am very interested in community health and the management of chronic diseases underserved populations. In my future career as a physician, I hope eventually run a community health center in an underserved community. I would love to go into Primary Care or Family Medicine. Both fields are very exciting to me! Outside of medicine, I love working out! It's fun and a huge stress reliever for me. Also, I am married, so I love spending time with m husband whenever I can.
