George was born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. He studied Pharmacy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana, where he served as President of the Ghana Pharmaceutical Students Association. There, he initiated programs to fund and expand student-led health outreach in urban and rural communities in Ghana, an experience that solidified his commitment to a career in medicine.
Upon graduating college in 2008, he immigrated to the US to pursue academic opportunities. Prior to medical school, George obtained a Master’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML). His research work during and after graduate school included antimicrobial drug development and studying the potential of a novel blood pump to improve vascular access for patients who need dialysis.
Currently, George serves as a program coordinator for the SNMA chapter at HMS. His responsibilities include planning events and connecting the chapter with resources within the HMS and the university community at large. He is excited about using these events to harness and celebrate the unique backgrounds that the chapter brings to the HMS community.
In addition to his academic interests and research experience in understanding molecular bases of diseases, George hopes to learn more about global health opportunities and medical education. He hopes to bring these experiences to help rural communities in Ghana some day.
Outside the classroom, he serves in the US Army Reserves as a Healthcare Sergeant (Combat Medic). He enjoys singing and leading choral music in his church choir.
