In an era of waning public confidence in science, the call on researchers to make their voices heard, and communicate the importance of their work CLEARLY has never been greater.

Whether chatting with a civilian with no background in science, interviewing for a position or speaking with a potential donor, an elegant, compelling elevator pitch could help elevate your profile, captivate the listener’s imagination and propel your career.

The HMPA Elevator Pitch Competition is designed to help you craft the perfect pitch!

‘You’ve got 2 minutes – Give us your best shot’

Pitch Perfect: We are looking for a brief speech (2 mins or less) that captures your reason for being a scientist, your research mission and goals. The speech should captivate and entice the listener to learn more. Aim for a conversational narrative, using passionate and exciting language, rich in analogies and metaphors, free of science lingo and acronyms, that tells the listener what you do and why you do it.
