Mayank Chugh is fascinated by mechanical design principles of how organisms are sculpted during development. He is a postdoctoral research fellow in the laboratory of Sean Megason, department of Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, where he is investigating the role of intercellular fluid pressure and movement in tissue morphogenesis.
Mayank obtained his PhD from the University of Tübingen with Max Planck Institute for Developmental Biology, Tübingen, Germany. In the labs of Erik Schäffer and Sabine Müller, he investigated the role of molecular motors and microtubule cytoskeleton in accurate alignment of plant cell division plane.
He currently leads a DEI working group at the department of systems biology towards hiring of postdocs and faculty. He is an advocate of mental health awareness and a plethora of much needed changes in the current academic system.
Outside the lab, he spends most of his time baking pastries and cakes, cooking, reading fiction, travelling, and exploring restaurants and pubs in Boston.
