I am a board-certified Internist and Gastroenterologist with advanced fellowship training at BI-Harvard Medical School in the management and preventive care in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). My Internal Medicine residency training at the University of Massachusetts Medical School was followed by a fellowship training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Florida where I also served as the Chief Gastroenterology Fellow.
I very much enjoy practicing as a Gastroenterologist because it offers a varied day-to-day clinical work with a mix of outpatients, inpatients, and a sound combination of challenging upper and lower endoscopic procedures. Gastroenterology and Hepatology utilize fascinating techniques to manage a variety of diseases in a minimally invasive fashion and require multidisciplinary teamwork to integrate clinical and endoscopic findings with laboratory, histological, and radiological clues.
I am interested in different aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and my special interest is in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease) care including preventative care, therapeutic drug monitoring, novel biologic therapies, post-operative management, transitioning from pediatrics to adults, pregnancy, and elderly.
I believe in patient centered care and personalized medicine. My goal is to provide excellent care and improvement of quality of life for my patients through multi-disciplinary team approach with special emphasis on early intervention and preventive care. Therefore I chose to join Kaiser Permanente as I believe this is one of the few models of healthcare in the country where one can practice evidence based medicine within an integrated and cohesive multi-specialty medical group which focuses on providing quality medicine while emphasizing on patient education and preventative health care.
I understand the challenges that patients and their families face, and I strive to provide the high-quality care that my patients and their families expect. Because I have already met the challenges of working in multicultural and intensely competitive environments successfully, I am able to bring to my patients a diverse range of hands-on experiences that I acquired through clinical activities in the US and abroad over the years.
I admire the social and ethnic diversity throughout the entire Bay Area. I have lived in many great parts of the country and I am thrilled to now call the North Bay home.
I very much look forward to meeting you and working together on your health care needs.
In my free time, I most enjoy traveling, reading, listening to music, swimming, cooking, and spending time with my family.
