TOPIC:  CARING FOR TRANSGENDER PATIENTS
  
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to

  • Describe the appropriate psychological evaluation for a patient requesting gender-affirming treatment, and who should perform it
  • Understand the risks and benefits of estrogen therapy  in a transgender woman with predisposing conditions for cardiovascular or thromboembolic disease
  • Recognize the role of the primary care practitioner in the care of a transgender woman, and when to refer to a specialty clinic

 
TARGET AUDIENCE: Physicians of all departments and divisions, including residents, fellows, third and fourth year medical students
