Dr. Forstein has been a principal investigator on an HIV Education and Training Grant through the federal Center for Mental Health Services, and teaches and has published on the neuropsychiatry and psychosocial aspects of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and he chaired the Steering Committee on HIV Psychiatry for the APA for over 20 years.
