Research areas

Traumatic Brain Injury Triage

My team an I developed a triage algorithm that help to identify patient with a low risk traumatic brain injury that can be treated in their community and forgo transfer to tertiary referral centers.

Moral Injury and Burnout

I am investigating the connection between moral injury, burnout, and futile surgeries in neurosurgery. My hypothesis is that incorporating communication training and implementing best practices from palliative care for goal-of-care discussions can prevent futile surgeries. This approach can aid in delivering care aligned with patients' goals, potentially reducing rates of moral injury and burnout among neurosurgeons.

Medical Eduction

My aim is to revolutionize continuing medical education by advocating for active teaching techniques that prioritize hands-on experience and foster a sense of joy and dedication to lifelong learning among healthcare professionals. Embracing an active teaching approach is crucial for building a cohesive knowledge foundation that integrates new and impactful insights, thereby enhancing the quality of healthcare provided to our patients.
