On September 12, 2018, Massachusetts Eye and Ear hosted its annual Boston Thyroid Club meeting. Founded and directed by Drs. Gregory Randolph and Paul Konowitz, both members of the Thyroid and Parathyroid Endocrine Surgery Division at Mass. Eye and Ear, this meeting began as the first otolaryngology-based endocrine surgical thyroid meeting attended by general surgeons, medical endocrinologists, otolaryngology/head and neck surgeons, pathologists, and radiologists.
Several lectures highlighting newer ideas in the field were presented, followed by multidisciplinary case presentations. The meeting consisted of an overview on the role of 4D-CT in parathyroid disease by Dr. Hillary Kelly as well as an update on “NIFTP” (noninvasive follicular thyroid neoplasm with papillary like nuclear features), a new premalignant entity. These were followed by case presentations with audience question and answer.
There were thirty attendees from the Greater Boston area. Future dates will be announced in the coming months.
