Dr. Gerald Healy Named Member of the Master Surgeon Educators of the American College of Surgeons

Dr. Gearld Healy portraitDr. Gerald Healy has been selected to be a member of the first class of the Master Surgeon Educators of the American College of Surgeons (ACS).

According to the ACS website, the aim of the new ACS Academy of Master Surgeon Educators is to "recognize and assemble a cadre of master surgeon educators of national and international renown who will work closely with the ACS Division of Education to advance the science and practice of avant-garde surgical education and training." The inaugural class, which includes Dr. Healy, will be inducted in October 2018. Dr. Healy is the only otolaryngologist in the inaugural class.

Dr. Healy is a Professor of Otolaryngology at Harvard Medical School, and the emeritus Surgeon-in-Chief and Gerald B. Healy Chair in Otolaryngology at Boston Children's Hospital. Throughout his career, he has been involved with numerous societies. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland and the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He has also served as a Chairman of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons and is a Past-President of the College, among other roles.
