PGY-1 Resident, Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery
Dr. Geethanjeli (Geetha) Mahendran, of Thompson, Connecticut, graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University with a degree in biochemistry. She earned her medical degree from the Emory University School of Medicine and a Master of Public Health with a concentration in behavioral, social and health education from the Rollins School of Public Health.
At Emory University, Dr. Mahendran served numerous leadership positions, a few of which included ENT Interest Group President, American Medical Women’s Association Vice President and Director of Mentorship for the Association of Women’s Surgeons. Her academic research has focused on disparities in adult and pediatric cochlear implantation, as well as the role of mentorship and sponsorship for women in the surgical field.
Born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, Dr. Mahendran believes her condition and its treatment have drawn her to the field of otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. She has been an active member of Foundation of Faces for Children, as well as a lifelong patient of Mass Eye and Ear and Boston Children’s Hospital.
Outside of her academic and clinical pursuits, she enjoys Bhangra dancing, spinning, running, flipping and selling furniture.
