Tara E. Mokhtari, MD

PGY-5 Resident, Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery

Dr. Tara Mokhtari grew up in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for her undergraduate studies with research focusing on the development of platinum-based anticancer drugs. She graduated with a degree in chemistry and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She went on to receive her medical doctorate from the Stanford University School of Medicine. 

While in medical school, Dr. Mokhtari spent one year as the Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Research Fellow, where she spent two years studying outcomes in bariatric surgery and the role of the Wnt signaling pathway in cochlear development. 

In addition to her academic and research endeavors, Dr. Mokhtari is an accomplished violist, having played in numerous orchestral and chamber music ensembles in college and medical school.

Her primary research interests include clinical and surgical outcomes, quality improvement, and surgical innovation.
