Dr. Simon Laganiere

Dr. Simon Laganiere is a neurologist with fellowship training in cognitive and movement disorders. Dr. Laganiere obtained his medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine, after which he completed his residency and fellowship here at BIDMC and currently holds the position of Instructor in Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Laganiere’s research interests include using neuroimaging to examine the functional brain networks that underlie neurological functioning in both motor and cognitive systems. More recently, he has sought to use this knowledge and experience to understand how changes in functional networks within the brains of patients with Huntington’s disease (HD) relate to changes in their ability to maintain focus and attention. Ultimately, his research hopes to discover early cognitive neuroimaging biomarkers in HD that might one day help guide future treatment trials. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Laganiere has been active clinically within our HD center of excellence at BIDMC and regularly sees and treats both patients with HD and those at high risk for HD.
