Leilah K. Grant, PhD, is a Staff Scientist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, and Assistant Director of the CHRONO-ENLIGHT Research Program. She received her BSc with First Class Honours in Psychology (2013) and PhD in Psychological Medicine (2018) from Monash University in Australia before completing postdoctoral training in Sleep and Circadian Disorders at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (2022).

Dr. Grant’s research examines the interplay between circadian rhythms, sleep, metabolism, and reproductive hormones, with a particular emphasis on women’s health. A major focus of her work is understanding how the timing of food intake interacts with the circadian system to regulate metabolic physiology. Her research has characterized circadian rhythms in lipid metabolism and investigated how meal timing influences metabolic rhythms and responses to food.

Dr. Grant also leads clinical trials of time-restricted eating, particularly in peri- and postmenopausal women, examining its effects on body weight, cardiometabolic health, sleep, mood, and menopause-related symptoms. A complementary area of her research investigates how reproductive hormones interact with sleep and circadian disruption to influence metabolism, mood, and neurobehavioral function across women’s reproductive lifespan.

Dr. Grant is a member of several professional societies, including the Sleep Research Society, Society for Research on Biological Rhythms, and Endocrine Society, and serves on the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Foundation Awards and Scholarships Review Committee. Her research has been recognized with awards from the Sleep Research Society, Endocrine Society, and Brigham Research Institute.
