Dr. Thomas E. Scammell is a Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a Co-Investigator with the ROSA U54 SCORE Center. Dr. Scammell’s research focuses on the neural mechanisms of sleepiness and cataplexy in narcolepsy, the ways brainstem circuits control sleep and wakefulness, the interactions between sleep and pain, and the roles of orexins in breathing and sleep regulation.
