Mission
The Friedman Lab
A primary research focus in The Friedman Lab is to define the mechanistic interactions (e.g., gene x environment) that lead to disease risk and progression of chronic kidney disease. We study the genetics of chronic kidney disease in complex, ancestrally admixed populations with exceptionally high kidney disease rates. We use population and family-based genetics, animal models, cell-based screening, and molecular and computational biology to understand pathogenesis and disease progression.
Featured Research Areas
