Imaging with Hyperpolarized Tertiary-butyl Alcohol

Perdeuterated [2-13C]tertiary-butyl alcohol (TBA) is a hyperpolarized MRI perfusion tracer that diffuses freely through biological membranes, including the blood-brain barrier.  Owing to its large distribution volume, it has a long residence time in tissue and can be imaged with high sensitivity.

This page provides methodological details for hyperpolarizing TBA, imaging TBA, and analyzing in vivo perfusion data.
