Welcome! Learn more about our world class research and education in inflammatory skin diseases.
Our Driving Force
- Skin diseases may not always receive the attention they deserve, but we understand the profound impact they can have on patients and their loved ones. At Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, we are dedicated to researching and treating inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and hidradenitis suppurativa.
- Our research program, the Clinical Laboratory for Epidemiology and Applied Research in Skin (CLEARS), was founded in 2017 by esteemed physicians, Alexa Kimball, MD, MPH, and Martina Porter, MD. With over 15 years of experience in investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies, our investigators are sought after for handling some of the most complex cases in inflammatory skin disorders.
- We are committed to making you better; even if the path isn't always obvious, we will work with you to find an approach that helps. Offering cutting edge therapy, we also often have relevant clinical trials with new approaches for the toughest cases. We also are always engaging in studies and surveys to assess what causes these diseases, how we can improve the quality of life for our patients and answers to questions about associated conditions that may also affect our patients. Core to our mission is training the next generation to help continue these efforts and provide and extend expert care to patients with these diseases worldwide.
