Proposals

The department has supported its members in the development process and successfully secured grants for projects.

1. Development of a cost-effective 3D modular airway model for fiberoptic intubation training. The CERTAIN division at BIDMC supported one of its faculty members, Dr. Haabo Ma, to secure the Society of Education and Anesthesia (SEAd) Grant. This two-year grant was approved in August 2022.

2. Rescue ultrasound-guided crisis management. Another departmental project headed by Dr. Ruma Bose secured the Foundation of Anesthesia Education Research (FAER) Research in Education Grant (REG) in August 2022.

3. Impact of In-situ, high-fidelity Simulation training on process outcomes and patient safety with ruptured abdominal aortic aneurism. The division supported its simulation director, Dr. Nadav Levy, in the 2023 application for the FAER-APSF Mentored Research Training Grant (MRTG).

4. Virtual reality-based training of invasive procedures (VR-TAIP).

5. Developing advanced proficiency in decision-making using branch-chain modules. The department supported Dr. Daniel Walsh in the submission of the FAER REG Grant for this project in August 2023. The department also assisted in the submission of the SEAd Grant for this project in Dec 2023.
