About
What is CHARM?
CHARM is an observational study of up to 2000 people to monitor for acute respiratory illnesses. The study is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and is part of a national effort to better understand illnesses like influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and COVID-19. Our study is based in the Greater Boston Area. There are two other CHARM projects - in Seattle and San Diego. Our other CHARM partners are led by investigators at University of Washington and University of California San Diego. Here in the Greater Boston Area, our study is led by investigators at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Our Clinic Partners
Our study is recruiting participants from all over the area, and people do not need to be affiliated with any particular clinic or hospital to join. One area though where we hope to meet members of the community are in primary care and pediatric clinics. We also are looking to enroll people from lots of different neighborhoods, from Chelsea, Mass to Dorchester in Boston.
Our Community Partners
In addition to working with clinics, we also have important community partners that help us stay connected to the neighborhoods we serve. These partners include local community organizations, non-profit groups, and schools and colleges.
Bowdoin Street Health Center
Located on Bowdoin Street in the heart of Dorchester, Bowdoin Street Health Center is proud to provide health services to everyone. We have been an active participant in the Dorchester community for over 40 years and offer care for infants, children, teens, adults and seniors.
MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center
MGH Chelsea HealthCare Center offers patients one convenient location close to home that provides expert medical services for the whole family, including primary and urgent care, laboratory testing and specialty services.
