Ava Ferguson Bryan, MD, MPH
Ava Ferguson Bryan, MD MPH is a general surgery resident at the University of Chicago. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BA in English, where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She has a masters in humanities from The University of Chicago and a masters of public health from Harvard's TH Chan School of Public Health. She graduated from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine as a member of both Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. She completed her general surgery research years at Brigham and Women's Hospital in the Center for Surgery and Public Health, and at The University of Chicago MacClean Center for Medical Ethics, where she was an American College of Surgeons fellow. She intends to pursue a fellowship in breast surgical oncology, and to build an academic practice using qualitative methods to explore ethical questions in oncology care. She lives in Chicago with her husband and two little boys, who are the lights of her life.
