Athena is interested in learning how lipid mediators regulate immune responses within the tumor and how these pathways can be translated into more effective cancer therapies for patients in the future!
Athena graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a B.S. in Molecular Environmental Biology and Nutritional Science – Toxicology. During her undergraduate studies, she conducted research in the Stahl Lab for 2.5 years under Dr. Lin Qi, where she worked on modeling metabolic and immuno competent white adipose tissue in microphysiological systems using single-sourced induced pluripotent stem cells.
Athena enjoys cooking, spending time with her cat (Ms. Luna), and exploring new food spots with friends!
Athena’s career goal is to attend medical school and practice medicine in hematology and oncology, where she aims to combine clinical practice with clinical research to advance cancer care, improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
Favorite Question: How can we selectively target pathological inflammation within specific tissues, while preserving the beneficial inflammatory responses necessary for host defense and healing?
