General Medicine Research Showcased at AHA Hypertension Scientific Sessions

The Division of General Medicine Research was well represented at this year’s American Heart Association (AHA) Hypertension Scientific Sessions in Baltimore, Maryland. Numerous undergraduate and medical students, residents, research assistants and post-doctoral fellows attended and presented their work, covering topics ranging from antihypertensive pharmacology to blood pressure control, treatment adherence, and clinical case studies. Several members were recognized with awards, including travel grants to support their participation. Notably, Dr. Esther Liu received a Best Poster Award, and Dr. Maruf Khan’s research was highlighted by the President of the AHA. Faculty members also played prominent roles throughout the meeting: Dr. Jennifer Cluett, Dr. Stephen Juraschek, and Dr. Mingyu Zhang each served as session moderators, leading discussions on clinical-pathologic cases in hypertension, interpretation of atypical blood pressure data, and hypertension across the lifespan, respectively. In addition, the BIDMC Comprehensive Hypertension Center was again recognized as an AHA Certified Hypertension Center, underscoring its commitment to excellence in patient care, research, and education.
