Hyperpolarized MRI is an emerging technology that enhances the sensitivity of MRI by a factor of 10,000-100,000, enabling non-invasive, real-time imaging of the transport, uptake, and metabolism of dilute tracer molecules.
Recent studies at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center have focused on development of novel tracers for imaging of perfusion (blood flow) that leverage the capabilities of hyperpolarization in tandem with a special class of 'diffusible' tracers.
