Sucrose Malabsorption and SIBO Presentation at Digestive Diseases Week 2024

Colin Wu, BS, presented an oral presentation titled: "Symptoms Do Not Predict Sucrose Malabsorption."

Some key findings included:

  • A high prevalence of 20.7% of patients with an abnormal 13CO2 Sucrose Breath Test in our patient population
  • Symptom presentation does not accurately differentiate patients with and without sucrose malabsorption
  • ​​Symptom presentation also does not accurately differentiate patients with SIBO vs. patients with sucrose malabsorption
