I am pleased to announce that the HMS OMERO server is up and running and available for use and testing. The server can be access by logging in to omero.hms.harvard.edu with your ecommons credentials. To upload data you will need to use OMERO.insight which you can download from the Image Management Core website: imc.hms.harvard.edu/software. Instructions for using OMERO.insight and importing data can be found on the open source OME web site: http://help.openmicroscopy.org/getting-started-5.html. Please ignore the instructions for downloading the software and go to the IMC software download page as described above.
We have added a real-time support chat applet called Slaask to both the IMC website and OMERO.web. You can open Slaask by clicking on the Homer icon in the lower right corner. Slaask is an experiment in offering real-time support. We want to try to answer simple questions quickly without involving email. Whether we use Slaask long term depends upon whether you and other OMERO users find it useful.
While this is a beta test, we have designed OMERO be a safe and secure platform for storing your images. You can consider this a production system fully supported by HMS IT.
In the coming weeks you can expect further announcements relating to HMS OMERO. We plan to have training sessions to help people get started. Also, in some cases you may need help to import your data, particularly if you have large or unusual datasets. We can help with that also. Finally, we will be offering data publishing and some other features that will be announced soon.
Thank you for your patience. If you have any questions or suggestions please write to IMC-SUPPORT@LISTSERV.MED.HARVARD.EDU or open a Slaask chat.
