Michael Ciaramella, MD
Michael Ciaramella, MD, is an integrated vascular surgery resident at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He completed his undergraduate education at the College of the Holy Cross as a member of the College Honors program, where he graduated with a double major in Music and Chemistry. He then attended Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in his home state of New Jersey as the recipient of a full tuition Dean’s Scholarship. There, he became immersed in multiple research projects centered on clinical decision-making and outcomes in acute and elective aortic pathology, leading to several peer-reviewed publications. He ultimately graduated with awards for academic excellence in neuroscience and cell biology as well as the Stanley S. Bergen, Jr. M.D. Metal of Excellence for highest overall academic achievement in his graduating class. Now in residency, Michael continues to remain active in research and is the recipient of an American Heart Association Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship aimed at investigating the role of early myofibroblast differentiation in orchestrating cellular changes leading to intimal hyperplasia and arterial bypass failure.
