About

Advanced Training in Orthopedic Surgery

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) provides exceptional training opportunities for medical students, residents and fellows pursuing careers in orthopedic surgery, clinical innovation and academic medicine. As a prominent teaching affiliate of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC offers a dynamic, high-acuity clinical setting that fosters technical excellence, scholarly development and compassionate, patient-focused care.

Led by nationally and internationally recognized faculty, our programs offer comprehensive training across all orthopedic subspecialties, including trauma, spine, sports medicine, hand and upper extremity, joint reconstruction and musculoskeletal oncology. Trainees gain hands-on experience with advanced surgical techniques and cutting-edge technologies, while engaging in collaborative, multidisciplinary care. The Department also supports active research initiatives and quality improvement efforts aimed at advancing the future of musculoskeletal health.
