Postdoctoral Fellow
Yana is from Ukraine. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Rhode Island in 2022 and is currently working on her postdoctoral research at Dr. Sofer’s Lab. Her main focus is in developing and assessing polygenic prediction models using machine learning approaches for estimating individual’s likelihood of acquiring a health trait later in life given their genetic predisposition. Additionally, Yana is studying approaches for model calibration in machine learning, e.g. to apply a model developed in a population-based settings to hospital settings. Outside of work she enjoys yoga, boxing, traveling, and exploring international cuisines.
