The equipment serving the investigators at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School affiliated scientists has been acquired and expanded over the past two decades. Initial equipment included a DEXA scanner, a CLAMS indirect calorimeter, and an EchoMRI for body composition analysis. In 2014 we updated our CLAMS for a unit with environmental controls of light and temperature. Our facilities were updated and re-launched as an institutional Energy Balance Core in 2019 to continue the tradition of excellence in metabolic research. This included a bomb calorimeter and a thermal imaging camera. In 2020 we obtained a Promethion indirect calorimeter and DSI’s continuous glucose monitoring system. In 2021 we obtained an isotopic analyzer for non-radioactive substrate oxidation measurement.
