At The Kahn Lab, we study the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying obesity and diabetes
Using molecular biology, mouse genetics, mass spectrometry, lipidomics, and RNAseq with validation by gene overexpression and knockdown, we’ve discovered new mechanisms for the regulation of metabolism and immune responses. We always confirm that these mechanisms function to regulate human health and disease. Our work has had a major impact on understanding the critical role of the adipocyte as an endocrine organ and as a metabolic factory, consuming and producing metabolites that have systemic effects on insulin action, energy balance and inflammation.
