Dr. Bernard T. Lee, MD, MBA, MPH is the Chief of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a Professor of Surgery at Harvard Medical School. Board-certified in plastic surgery, Dr. Lee specializes in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery, perforator flap reconstruction (including DIEP, SIEA, and GAP flaps), and complex microsurgical procedures.
Dr. Lee is a nationally recognized leader in reconstructive surgery and actively contributes to several professional societies. He serves on multiple committees within the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He also co-chairs the performance measures work group on autologous breast reconstruction for the ASPS.
His research team has earned numerous honors, including the Commission on Cancer Best Paper Award, Best Overall Manuscript Award at the Association for Academic Surgery, and multiple Best Resident Presentation Awards in breast reconstruction and microsurgery. Dr. Lee currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery and sits on the editorial boards of Annals of Plastic Surgery, Journal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, and ePlasty. He is also co-editor of the two-volume textbook Encyclopedia of Flaps.
