Elias N. Baedorf-Kassis is a physician–scientist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, based in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. He is a critical care specialist with over a decade of clinical experience and a strong focus on translational research in respiratory physiology and ICU care. His work centers on understanding the mechanisms of lung injury, patient–ventilator interaction, and advanced strategies for individualized respiratory support, including the use of esophageal manometry and physiologic modeling to optimize mechanical ventilation. He has led multiple prospective and retrospective studies investigating ventilator dyssynchrony, mechanical power, and novel ventilation modes, and has contributed to influential research on topics such as reverse triggering and precision ventilator management. His work reflects a broader commitment to integrating bedside physiology, data science, and clinical trials to improve outcomes for critically ill patients.
