Professional Biography

Dr. Vasunilashorn is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and the Division of General Medicine and Primary Care at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). She joined the faculty in 2016 after completing a postdoctoral fellowship in Translational Research on Aging at BIDMC/HMS. Her primary area of research focuses on identifying shared biological mechanisms that link postoperative delirium and Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease related dementias (AD/ADRD). In particular, she is interested in the role of genetics, inflammation, and social determinants of health in the underlying relationship between delirium and AD/ADRD. She is currently funded by the National Institute on Aging and the Alzheimer’s Association.
