I received my PhD in Life Sciences from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, and went on to do my post-doctoral training at Stanford University, first working on Evolutionary Genetics and then into Neurogastroenterology.
After 10 years as faculty at the Johns Hopkins University, where my research was focused on understanding the origin and development of the enteric nervous system (ENS) and its maintenance in adults, our lab has now moved to BIDMC at the Harvard Medical School - where we will pursue how the post-natal development, maintenance, and aging of the ENS occurs; what are the factors that drive this biology; and importantly - how things can go awry to cause diseases.
As a firm believer in Team Science, my lab aims to build teams with other investigators to understand the complex biology that is the neuronal regulation of gastrointestinal health.
