Santino was born in 1993 in Savage, Minnesota, but considers himself a native of NewJersey. He was raised in the town of Scotch Plains, and graduated from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School in 2011. He then went on to attend Yale University, where he discovered an interest in the field of neuroplasticity during his time as a STARS research scholar, along with a passion for mentoring high school students with learning disabilities in the greater New Haven area. Among other things, he also co-led an undergraduate organization that aimed to provide free energy consulting to Yale alumni, and enjoyed playing club baseball in his free time. Santino graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in 2015.
Now a first year medical student at Harvard Medical School, Santino serves as the treasurer for SNMA, where he oversees the organization’s fiscal budgeting. He is also a member of HMS’s Venture Ideation and Creation team – a group dedicated to creating and developing novel medical innovations. He has a broad interest in health equity and global health, but currently has no idea what he wants to do within the field of medicine.
Beyond academia, Santino is an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen, and also enjoys hiking, cheese, cornhole, napping, and out-lifting the SNMA Vice President in the weight room.
