About
Mission
The Sun Lab is dedicated to collaborative research that bridges the gap between biomedical research and clinical translation. We provide a platform where our expertise in computational and medicinal chemistry can be applied to meet complex challenges in drug discovery and translational research.
Team
Our team is composed of experienced scientists with expertise in various domains, including synthetic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, and chemical biology.
Research approach
The Sun Lab aims to achieve tight integrations of in silico methodologies in rational drug design, with a special interest in small molecule modulators of transcriptional factors, e.g. arylhydrocarbon receptor (AHR) and nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT).
Methodology
We dissect the intricate process of small molecule drug discovery into three (3) essential, yet intertwined, aspects that can be adequately addressed by rational drug design: activity, toxicity, and delivery. Molecular dynamics simulation can shine a light on ligand-receptor interactions that drive binding affinity and target selectivity, whilst predictive physiochemical parameters are an integral in structural modifications to optimize drug-like properties
