Our lab's mission is to deepen our understanding of how specific brain circuits give rise to the symptoms seen in psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

About Us
The Brady Lab
Our research teams are currently leading several important projects across both of our lab sites. A major area of focus is understanding why some people with schizophrenia do not respond well to medication. In these cases, challenges such as low motivation, difficulty experiencing pleasure, limited emotional expression, and trouble understanding social cues can have a profound impact on daily life—often contributing to issues like unemployment or homelessness.
Using advanced brain-imaging techniques, we are working to identify how these symptoms relate to changes in the brain’s communication networks. In partnership with our collaborators, we are also studying these connections more directly by stimulating specific brain circuits with a noninvasive method called repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS). Through this work, we aim to uncover new pathways for more effective treatments that can improve long-term outcomes and quality of life for individuals living with schizophrenia.

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, McLean Hospital, and Collaborators
Our teams work closely together to understand the pathology of psychotic disorders, such as schizophrenia, and to improve treatment care. Our research developments have joint efforts at both Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and McLean Hospital. Read more about the team's roles and our many collaborators here.
