Dr. Hanneke Verstegen

Hanneke Verstegen, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology at BIDMC, and member of the faculty at HMS. Dr. Verstegen is a basic scientist trained in Experimental and Clinical Neuroscience and pursuing a career in Neuro-Urology. Research in her lab focuses on identifying and characterizing neuron populations and neural circuits that when damaged may lead to lower urinary tract (LUT) dysfunction in a broad spectrum of neurologic disorders. She has ample experience in mentoring students, research assistants and research fellows, and is looking to improve access to mentorship via the Translational Research Hubs, as well as to actively contribute to the career development of researchers and fellow junior faculty.
