Sumeet Gupta is the Bioinformatics and Data Infrastructure Lead in the Hide Lab at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), where he develops computational infrastructure and bioinformatics workflows to support genomic and multi-omics research at Hide lab. His work focuses on building scalable, reproducible analysis pipelines, integrating advanced computational methods into biomedical research, and enabling researchers to efficiently analyze high-throughput sequencing data.
Before joining BIDMC, Sumeet spent over two decades at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research, where he was a founding member of the Genome Technology Core. During his tenure, he played a key role in establishing and expanding the institute's next-generation sequencing capabilities, overseeing sequencing operations, developing bioinformatics workflows, and collaborating with investigators across a wide range of genomics projects.
Sumeet has extensive experience in next-generation sequencing technologies, including single-cell RNA sequencing, bulk RNA sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR screening, epigenomics, and long-read sequencing. His expertise spans computational genomics, high-performance computing, workflow development, and analysis using R, Python, and UNIX-based systems.
His current interests include AI-assisted bioinformatics, scalable data infrastructure, reproducible computational research, precision medicine, and the development of user-friendly analytical platforms that bridge computational and experimental biology.
Sumeet earned a Master of Science in Bioengineering with a specialization in Bioinformatics. He has co-authored more than 15 peer-reviewed publications and enjoys collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to translate complex genomic data into meaningful biological insights.
