Climate Resilience for Frontline Clinics Toolkit - United States
Download and read the updated and expanded Harvard / Americares toolkit which provide strategies and resources to better manage care and protect patients from climate shocks including extreme heat, wildfires and wildfire smoke, hurricanes, and flooding. These resources were pilot-tested in 19 clinics across the US in 2023, were revised by a multidisciplinary team of experts to reflect suggestions from end users, and an updated toolkit was released in September 2024. These resources have now been viewed more than 44,000 times and downloaded more than 23,000 times.

Wildfire Smoke and Heat-Health Action Plans
The Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard Chan C-CHANGE) collaborated with Americares to help free and charitable clinics and community health centers lessen patients’ exposure to dangerous heat and wildfire smoke. These resources provide information on health protection and prevention options for patients and populations in a wide range of situations. Users complete a short survey; responses generate a tailored plan with the top five interventions for their patient population and unique needs. Each intervention includes real-world examples to show how other clinics and communities have put these plans into action.

Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change: Policy Brief for the United States of America
The 2024 Lancet Countdown Brief for the United States (U.S.) highlights national data on the health impacts of climate change and progress on climate action from the 2024 report of the Lancet Countdown. It highlights three priority opportunities for an incoming administration of any party to center health in its approach to climate action. The Brief is supported by a diverse group of health experts from over 80 organizations in the U.S. who conclude that human health must be a core measure of successful climate action. As such, there is an urgent need to transition from fossil fuels towards non-combustion renewable energy and a climate-resilient society that is healthy, just, and equitable.
