The Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Research Section had a strong showing at the 2025 American College of Cardiology (ACC) Conference, which took place in Chicago, IL from March 28-31. The hard work of ten of our trainees, conducted in collaboration with faculty and biostatisticians, was showcased in eight trainee-helmed presentations (oral and poster):
Oral Presentations:
Dr. Joseph Kim presented "Final 7+ Year Analysis of the Safety Assessment of Femoropopliteal Endovascular Treatment with Paclitaxel-Coated Devices (SAFE-PAD) Study" (Kim J, Yeh R, Song Y, Secemsky E)
Dr. William Earle presented "Contemporary Trends and Treatment Patterns of Patients with Resistant Hypertension in the United States" (Earle W, Watson N, Juraschek S, Cluett J, Krawisz A, Secemsky E)
Sarnoff fellow Frank Medina presented "Costs Associated with the Use of Intravascular Imaging With and Without Invasive Physiology in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention Among Medicare Beneficiaries" (Medina F, Mosarla R, Kim J, Secemsky E)
Poster Presentations:
Dr. Joseph Kim presented "Differing Practice Patterns and Outcomes for Chronic Limb-
Threatening Ischemia Revascularization by US Regions" (Kim J, Arvanitis L, Li S, Song Y, Yeh R, Secemsky E, et al) and "Contemporary Sex Differences in Outcomes Following Revascularization for Chronic Limb-Threatening Ischemia Revascularization Among Medicare Beneficiaries" (Kim J, Dangas K, Li S, Song Y, Yeh R, Secemsky E)
Dr. Emily Crawford presented "Finding an Ideal Candidate: A Case of Refractory Hypertension Treated with Renal Denervation" (Crawford E, Mewaldt C, Cluett J, Secemsky E, Krawisz A)
Dr. Alexandra Medline presented "Evaluation of Patients Presenting to a Multidisciplinary Lymphatic Center" (Medline A, Hentati F, Carroll B, et al)
Dr. Christina Lalani presented "Validating the Use of Medicare Claims Data to Evaluate Covariates & Outcomes Among Medicare Advantage Patients Enrolled in the Evolut Low-Risk Trial" (Lalani C, Medina F, Liang L, Song Y, Butala N, Strom J, Yeh R)
Faculty members Dr. Secemsky and Dr. Krawisz spoke on one of their key areas of research, the innovative renal denervation (RDN) procedure, in their panel presentation "Baking the Beans: Is Renal Denervation the Answer to Hypertension Management?" Dr. Secemsky delivered three additional RDN-centered presentations respectively entitled "The Future of HTN Care is Now: The Symplicity™ Blood Pressure Procedure," "Renal Denervation: Overview of the Evidence and Technologies," and "Renal Denervation Cases."
We congratulate our faculty, trainees, and biostatisticians on their impressive contributions to ACC 2025, which represent months to years of dedicated research.
