My goal as a physician scientist is to gain insights in interplay between macronutrients, cellular metabolism, and inflammation. Specifically, I am focused on the impact of alcohol on Gastrointestinal (GI) mucosal immunity. Immune dysregulation in the GI mucosa has been implicated in the pathogenesis of many diseases including the Alcohol-associated Liver Disease (ALD). Through a combination of clinical practice and basic/translational research, I hope to solve salient problems in gastroenterology and hepatology.
