Community

All research is networked

There is no other way to combat infectious diseases, which by their nature stretch across people, time and geography. Our research endeavors to do the same.

Community Engagement

A central tenet of our research is to be responsive to what our community stakeholders actually need. That means bringing together individuals from the community (near and far) who are impacted by HIV and other infectious diseases and listening - we do this with our CVVR Community Advisory Board (CAB) and the Fenway Institute CAB. We are also committed to speaking directly at community events, to disseminate our research findings, provide education and network with community members. These activities are focused on both our local Boston and New England communities, but also our global collaborating clinical trial sites, such as in Soweto, Durban and Cape Town, South Africa.

Academic Collaborators

The core of our research activities is our vaccine clinical trials unit, a designated clinical research site for the NIH HIV and COVID-19 Vaccine Trials Networks. In this role, our work is inherently collaborative as we link our research to a larger national and international group of clinical research sites. Our research is also embedded within several other collaborative entities: the Harvard Center for AIDS Research, the Ragon Institute of Mass General, MIT and Harvard, and the Massachusetts Consortium on Pathogen Readiness. And, as our home is the Center for Virology and Vaccine Research, we collaborate every day with our fellow CVVR investigators.
