Luis obtained his Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Sao Paulo, where he investigated the interaction between the immune system and the brain, and how this crosstalk modulates behavioral and endocrine alterations during inflammatory conditions such as sepsis. As a postdoctoral researcher in Machado's lab, he is interested in investigating the use of hypothermia as a therapeutic approach in neurological pathologies like stroke and traumatic brain injury.
