About Cognitive Enhancement Therapy
Cognitive Enhancement Therapy (CET)
A comprehensive year-long manualized cognitive remediation program that integrates computer-based training with group-based exercises, bother supervised by a clinician. The clinician meets weekly for one hour with a pair of participants as they take turns completing a computer exercise and provide encouragement and advice to their partner. The clinician also meets each participant weekly for individual coaching sessions. The clinician and assistant work with a group of 6-8 participants for 1.5 hours each week on group-based exercises. In three modules (basic concepts, social cognition, CET applications) groups focus on perspective-taking, social context appraisal, and other aspects of social cognition, with psychoeducational lectures, homework, assignments, and in-group exercises. In weekly supervision sessions, CET trainers review clinician experiences with the computer-based and group-based exercises and provide guidance to improve engagement.
