World Diabetes Day Event

The Systemic Effects of Metabolic Disease Hub hosted a World Diabetes Day Event on Tuesday November 14th 2023 with over 50 faculty, staff and trainees in attendance!  This event including keynote presentations from Dr. Yua-Hu Tseng, from Joslin Diabetes Center, as well as a keynote presentation from Dr. Alexander Banks, a faculty member at BIDMC.  In addition to the keynote presentations, four outstanding short talks were delivered by postdoctoral fellows from both Joslin Diabetes Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.  These talks included:

Abigael Cheruiyot, PhD “Chronic hyperglycemia regulates translation of mRNAs important for insulin secretion” from the Schaffer Lab, Joslin Diabetes Center

Qianbin Zhang, PhD “Regulation of T2D genes in human adipocytes” from the Rosen and Clausnitzer Labs at BIDMC

Shannon Emerzian, PhD “Skeletal Fragility in Type 1 Diabetes” from the Bouxsein Lab at BIDMC

Hetal Shah, MD MPH Structural neuroimaging and cognitive function in long duration type 1 diabetes” at Joslin Diabetes Center
